As the temperatures slowly drop and it begins to get dark a little earlier each night, we are reminded that fall is just around the corner. I don’t know about you, but I am already bored with the usual suspect fall prospects. This month, we decided to look for a few alternatives. New and independent designers abound looking to make their mark in the world of fashion, and adding a fresh look to our wardrobes. When I lived back in Baltimore, I would visit small stores in Maryland and Washington DC that offered fashions from new designers all the time. Sometimes a little pricey (of course not as much as some of our mainstream favorites), it was nice to have something a little different than what the masses were wearing. Of course that was Maryland, and living in New York everyone seems to have his or her own look. (Except for the trendy fashion clone). This month we take a look at a few new/independent designers and what they have to offer for the upcoming season.
This fall as we start to pull out our comforters in hopes of protecting us from the oftentimes-chilly air, our favorite established designers prepare to show us their interpretations for Spring 2006. New York fashion week begins September 9 and we look forward to bringing you daily updates in our brand new blog premiering this issue. While we wait for the designers to show us their best, our retro feature focuses on an American best – Bill Blass. Our classified section has been working overtime to bring you the best designers at ultra low prices, check out what your fellow Papierdoll visitors are offering up for sale.
Hurricane Katrina brought devastation to New Orleans, Papierdoll has teamed up with artist Melissa Giordano to present to you the Breuckelen Pixelated shirt. All Papierdoll proceeds from the shirt will go to The American Red Cross relief effort.
