Russian Supermodel Commits Suicide in NYC

Ruslana Korshunova, 20, a Russian supermodel who has walked the runways of several New York Fashion Week shows fell to her death. The model plunged in what police are calling an apparent suicide at 2:30pm today. Korshunova was featured on the cover of Russian Vogue and had already walked in major designer’s shows during New York Fashion week including Betsey Johnon’s 2006 runway show. Discovered in 2003 by Debbie Jones of modeling agency Models 1, Korshunova was immediately pegged as a rising star in the industry. Police investigating the fall said that the model apparently jumped off the 9th floor of her building. Witnesses told the reporters on the scene that the model died on impact and attempted to help but were late. Korshunova was represented by agency IMG and has walked in the aforementioned Betsey Johnson runway show, Nina Ricci, Marc Jacobs and several others.
