This may have never been uttered and may never be uttered again, but Reem Acra’s Fall 2015 offering may sell out in stores more for the shorter fair than the gowns. That’s not to say that the gowns aren’t beautiful. Indeed they are. They’re intricate, ornate, even ostentatious. The mastery of the detailing of the beadwork and the accents are so complex that only a designer who is at the height of their craft could conceive of such wares. The issue is, in these times of simpler fashion and quicker hits, the shorter fair may see a level of success for Acra that’s most likely never seen previously. That is praise folks. Her collection of gowns comes off as a mix between a quasi-Victorian era and the times of Czarist Russia. Her shorter dresses speak to a more modern look but you still see both latter influences. Highlights include a sheer black ruffled dress with leather overlay, a short black embroidered dress a very sexy embroidered blazer over a sheer dress. Floral embroidered detailing figured throughout and was visually stunning to look at and will be more so the case because of how different it is in comparison to other collections for Fall 2015.
