Nicole Miller’s Fall 2015 collection caught us a little by surprise primarily because of the abstract use of color on some pieces. That’s not to say the designer never had an extensive use of color before, one need only look at Fall 2014, Spring 2013 to understand that she embraced the colorful mantra. In those seasons, the designer it seemed at the time let the fabric take the color where it would. This season, Nicole Miller’s collection strength comes through specifically in the artistic kaleidoscope of color. Almost every separate is something unto itself without a matching piece necessary. That colorful fur skirt is paired with a print top against a black background, but it needn’t be because it’s compelling by itself. That peacock print dress with a plunging but suddenly halted v-neckline is striking, the slingback opentoe black heel with colorful print, the imaginary colorful forest print against the black top, what about the top with the mason navigation symbol and ohm print (among others) throughout. I simply can’t type fast enough to explain the constant onslaught of color throughout. And in the end, you’re left with a Fall 2015 collection that is every bit Nicole Miller but with a heavy artistic twist.
