Focusing mostly on day dresses this season, Monique Lhullier’s collection was inspired by the first few moments of sunrise. At this time the sky is painted with different shades of pastel colors. These hues were mimicked in beautiful detail, accented with metallic and iridescent fabric, exquisite beadwork, floral paillettes and intricate embroidery.
Volume was one of the main trends in this collection, layered organza peplums, full skirts, wide leg cropped pants and dramatic sleeves were seen throughout. A waffle weave was incorporated to several pieces which added texture and gave the collection a modern feel. Sheer and iridescent fabrics were recurring trend all runway season and this collection followed suit.
Elegant yet playful, there was an ease and freshness about this collection. The evening gowns too exuded ease without sacrificing on glamour and elegance. Two stand-outs were a pastel patchwork lace embroided cap sleeve gown and a pink multi violet printed silk one shoulder tufted ball gown.
Monique did a beautiful job bringing her inspiration to life. The sunset never looked so beautiful.
