It was a 70’s revival at Georgine Ratelband’s spring/summer 2015 show, a collection that would make Cher, Diana Ross and Bianca Jagger remember the glamour of the disco era.
The show began with a gold lame and chiffon caftan paired with a head tie of the same fabric and hoop earrings. This was just one of four caftans that made it down the runway; the standout of this bunch was a hand beaded caftan with black, blue gold and orange panels.
The color palette for the collection was mint, gold, sand, white, pink, orange, red and black. Many of these colors were presented in reflective fabrics like lame. Silk, jersey and leathers were also made to look reflective in gold and mint.
Other pieces in the collection were glamourous as well as relaxed. It featured silk linen jackets, neoprene gown and “broken trench”, linen shorts, silk cotton tops and shorts and a smoking jacket. One look aptly named the “Bianca Suit” was made with white crepe and organza, was a stunner. The suit featured a relaxed jacket and pant that were perforated and see through.
The last eight looks in the collection featured “cabana girls”. A selection of swimwear paired with jackets, tunics or beach towels and beach bags. These were as glamorous as they come, perfect for the jet setters resort wardrobe.
Georgine’s collection was one of the memorable ones this season, inspired but not cliché. Perfect for the modern woman who looks to studio 54 and it’s glamorous decade for fashion inspiration
