We first took notice of Jenny Packham in London many seasons ago and followed with much interest when she showed for the first time in New York. It seems Packham has evolved in that time from showing predominately gown-centric selections to a collection with more range. Realistically her Fall 2014 collection shows that the designer is really hitting her stride. Packham started the show with a beautiful sequin accented floor length dress in a deep burgundy with black undertones and continued with a stunning red halter that had a daring neckline and elegant flow. A starfish like patterned-print dress was beautiful in its sophistication without pretense. Another highlight was an Arabian inspired deep blue dress with rib cut-outs and a jeweled neckline and mid-section. The audience it seems did not know what to make of a powdered blue feathered dress and with good reason. The dress seemed out-of-place for the collection, but again, this seemed to be Packham letting everyone in on a secret: there is no standard convention for Jenny Packham collections.
