The king of fur (and what looks soon to be QVC) had a particularly strong showing for Fall 2014. Dennis Basso’s Fall 2014 collection is a look into a designer that knows his craft and audience and plays on both with no pretense as to what it is. Basso started the collection with two variations of a luxury gray and white fur with a black and white print trouser and matching cuffs. What followed was a cavalcade of iconic Basso pieces. The black and white print shift dress with gray and white fur shawl, the a shimmery black number with black banding along the hem, a strapless black white and silver ball gown with dramatic print all on one side flowing onto the other. In reading this review it’s easy to see that the designer was heavily skewed towards the monochromatic hues of black, white and gray. But with this collection he does venture into the realm of primary colors and the designs are prints that more variations of the black, white and gray set than entirely different pieces. He does show off a deep red set that’s stunning to look at. It’s deep red fur vest that has fur and leather detailing with a metallic gold flat neck collar. Basso’s aficionados will love this collection.
