The Emerson Fall 2014 Collection is a darker collection than most of what we’ve seen so far at fashion week in New York. Truth be known, the season’s been surprisingly colorful and somewhat on the daring side. So it’s not entirely difficult to go darker. The Emerson collection is a bit of a 180 from the color and fun. It is a quiet edginess that gives the pieces from the collection a progressive feel. You haven’t really seen this before, you just thought you have. Standout pieces from the collection include a sheer sleeveless tunic with piped banding and a layered neck. The designer styled this with a snake print leather pant that had sheer material at the knee (or just above). ANother strong piece was the shear sleeved dark blue dress with a light cowl neck that had just the right amount of light material at the bottom. What’s being describes here is not a playful, whimsical collection. This is more thoughtful and has an audience more suited for an intellectual conversation. It’s feminine without being vamp. The designer may loathe to hear me say it, but you can see a costume designer in the Twilight movie series jumping all over this for Bella or one of the female vampires.
