Del Toro Opened Their First Boutique During Their 2nd Annual Art Basel Event.
Miami, December 5, 2012: Del Toro is pleased to announce the grand opening of their first official Del Toro boutique, located in The Wynwood Building. The celebration took place in conjunction with their 2nd annual Art Basel Event, which showcased an exclusive installation. Del Toro again commissioned over thirty local and international artists, including Curtis Kulig, Hoxxoh, En Masse, and Alec Monopoly, to express their aesthetic on signature Del Toro silhouettes. Each shoe was displayed as an installation during the grand opening event for guests to admire as they shopped the latest styles from Del Toro. Vodka + Perrier® Sparkling Natural Mineral Water cocktails were sipped as guests enjoyed hors d’oeuvres from Eating House and sounds by DJ Brett Beats. During the event guests toasted to Del Toro with Perrier Jouët Champagne provided by Southern Wine and Spirits of South Florida. Among those in attendance were: Justin Doss, Ronnie Fieg, William Yan, Chiun Kai Shih, Alec Monopoly, Callyann Barnett, Rachel Johnson, Jace Lipstein, and Hacula.
Creative Director of Del Toro, Matthew Chevallard, is an avid art enthusiast and enjoys fusing art with fashion. “I am excited for our second annual Art Basel event as we celebrate the launch of our boutique in The Wynwood Building. I always appreciate the various aesthetics each artist brings to our classic silhouettes and I am thrilled to showcase this installation at our new location. Wynwood is filled by amazing art from talented local artists and I am happy to be a part of the Wynwood community.”

ABOUT DEL TORO SHOES:
Del Toro is a luxury lifestyle brand based out of Miami, Florida. Originally a men’s brand, Del Toro now produces shoes and accessories for both men and women. Matthew Chevallard, Co-Founder and Creative Director of Del Toro, was born in Torino, Italy. Del Toro was founded in 2005, and originally sought to fill a void in the marketplace for affordable customized velvet slippers.
Through this success, the collection evolved to include new styles such as wingtips, chukkas, sneakers, drivers, and espadrilles. Del Toro prides itself on offering a fresh take on classic silhouettes. All products are hand made on the Adriatic Coast of Italy, and are constructed of the finest nappa leathers, suedes, and velvets. Chevallard insists that his designs cater to “grown up sneaker heads.” He infuses his own personal style into every detail of his designs, which is evident in the unique details and compelling color combinations found throughout the collections.
Inspiration for the brand is drawn from a combination of Matthew’s Italian heritage, a Palm Beach prep aesthetic from his childhood, and edgy New York and Japanese street style. Del Toro offers an array of products for people who are seeking refined contemporary footwear and accessories. Del Toro’s showroom and operations are headquartered at Ufficio Del Toro, located in The Wynwood Building, also the location of the Del Toro boutique. The Del Toro lifestyle is emulated by the cosmopolitan atmosphere of Miami. Del Toro continues to grow and expand its offerings while maintaining the quality and aesthetics of handmade Italian products. Viva Del Toro!
