It’s not easy to confuse a Jill Stuart piece with anything else. The designer marches to her own drumbeat and has been successful doing just that. Her Spring/Summer 2013 collection was just an extension of that ethos. The collection ranged from feminine sophisticated to daring sexy. I want to focus though on a number of pieces that came in black. It was perhaps one of the strongest statements I’ve seen during fashion week since I began covering for this publication (about 6 years now). Stuart put together an array of black pieces, first a corset-like dress with floral print in detailed intricate black floral, then a short sexy floral jacket entirely in black, then a shoulder-less black floral dress that fell just below the knee and then a black dress with shear top and puffed up shear shoulders. All told, Stuart put the exclamation point behind the sentence that was her collection. It was just breathtakingly beautiful.
Jill Stuart showed why she’s a master at her craft with this Spring/Summer 2013 showing.
