Chic, wearable clean-lined totes and embellished smart bucket bags make-up some of the gorgeous Autumn/Winter 2012 collection from luxury limited-edition leather handbag designer, Belen Echandia, which is out on Wednesday 12th September 2012.
Belen Echandia’s street inspiration has resulted in a collection of sleek silhouettes in vibrant yet wearable colours – deep, fiery red adopted for this season’s key ‘raw energy’ trend; really wearable marine; mahogany; butterscotch; whiskey; anthracite; oak; scrummy nutmeg snake-print and with amazing textures in black.
Those silhouettes translate into shapes that encompass the confidence that the Belen Echandia woman has out and about. Totes include fold-over and hand-held styles this season. Smart bucket bags are embellished with sophisticated metal clasps to keep all of life’s trinkets and important accessories safe though easy to reach. Mini bags sit alongside maxi styles in each shape – a Belen Echandia design staple.
What makes Belen Echandia bags so delicious to own and use are the fabrics that our family-run Italian atelier hand-craft into individual creations. AW12’s collection of handbags can be found in embossed bubble goatskin; snakeprint leather; rich, waxy vegetable-tanned leather and, this season particularly, sees hints of soft metallics throughout.
This season’s collection includes our New York Tote (see attached product shot in brown snakeprint), our first hand-held tote inspired by the street styles of New York, Milan and Paris and by the fashion editors and business-women who know how to marry chic practicality with a diverse, high-fashion wardrobe. It has a smart outer pocket, metal clasp for embellishment, a convenient interior pocket and can be worn on the elbow, the shoulder and across the body though it is more of an arm-carry or cross-body bag. In comparison, our Paris Tote sits beautifully on the shoulder and has a large internal compartment. Both £525 (US$825).
Our Florence Satchel was inspired by this favourite Italian city and its stylish women who love to wear beautiful cross-body bags. This elegant bag has had a makeover in our new vibrant waxy vegetable-tanned leather, giving it more structure and a strong, confident air. £525 (US$825).
The style of our Barcelona Bag was inspired by the day-to-night vibe and art deco buildings of the vibrant city, a personal favourite of our Creative Director, with the shape meeting our Belenistas’ need for serious, multi-tasking bags. It can be worn both in the hand, with a soft-rolled handle and across the body and has two smart front pockets. £525 (US$825).
The collection includes our glamorous, polished Cannes Shoulder Bag (see attached product shot of midi size in chocolate matte), with a wearable rolled handle, two smooth, large front pockets and a central, removable. It can be worn across the body as well as on the shoulder. It looks amazing in our amber-toned leathers, particularly when over-sized (our large version). Midi £450 (US$725).
To round off the collection, this season sees the return of our Stockholm Tote (see model picture attached), a chic, wearable cross-body bag, perfect for city use. It can also be worn hand-held and works beautifully in all of this season’s colours and textures. £475 (US$740).
