Los Angeles, CA – August 6, 2012 – GenArt, the experiential events and digital content marketing company dedicated to supporting emerging talent, announces today that they are accepting applications for their 17th Annual Fresh Faces in Fashion events held in New York and Los Angeles. Known as the largest and most recognized fashion event of its kind, the Fresh Faces program is a catalyst for emerging designers in the industry, and this year GenArt plans to further its reach through new social media integrations and creative initiatives.
GenArt’s Fresh Faces in Fashion program gives young, emerging designers the opportunity to participate in a runway fashion show that may otherwise be out of reach for them financially. The brand is responsible for the debut of such talent as Zac Posen, Phillip Lim, Vena Cava, Rodarte, Rebecca Taylor and more.
Aurora James, who has worked with GenArt for the last 5 years, will curate this year’s featured designers. James will work with the GenArt team and additional celebrity and industry panelists to be announced in August. The selected designers will be chosen based on design caliber, experience, industry buzz, and other specified criteria.
GenArt will showcase four emerging womenswear designers and one emerging menswear designer for each event. The New York show will take place on Sunday, September 9, during New York Fashion Week at Pier 57, and the Los Angeles show will follow on Wednesday, October 17, during Los Angeles Fashion Week at the Vibiana. The application process can be found on GenArt’s website (www.genart.com) and will be open for submissions until August 15, 2012.
In addition to the five selected designers in each city, the Fresh Faces events will feature one Kenya-based designer selected from this year’s GenArt Global program. Launched in May, GenArt Global partnered with the Tribe Hotel in Kenya for their annual charity fashion event “Tribal Chic” to give two designers the chance to be featured on a runway in the US.

Moroccanoil will present the GenArt Fresh Faces in Fashion New York and Los Angeles shows. As the title sponsor, the brand will work closely with the designers to create the hairstyles for their runway looks.
