Cannes, France (4E) – Some of the fabled and iconic designers to be featured at the upcoming amfAR’s Cinema Against Aids gala during the Cannes Film Festival are the legendary Alexander Wang, Balenciaga, Roberto Cavalli and many other celebrated names in the industry.
The annual fundraising event is always a highlight of the renowned festival.
For the first time, this year’s event will feature a full scale fashion show based around the former French Vogue editor Carine Roitfeld’s concept of the ideal black wardrobe.
Contributing to the show are some 20 designers ranging from the classic French labels Christian Dior and Chanel to up-and-coming talents such as Scotland’s Christopher Kane.
WWD reported that the entire collection will be auctioned off as a single lot during the May 24 gala at the Hotel du Cap0Eden Roc in Cap d’Antibes.
The event promises to be a star-studded affair with celebrities including Janet Jackson and Kylie Minogue set to perform.
This year’s Cannes festival kicked off on May 16 and run through May 27.
