Beijing, China (AHN) – China Fashion week is making huge strides in its attempts to compete with the world’s fashion capitals.
The recent Beijing Fashion Week showed that China is making strong strides in its attempts to compete with and gain status among the world’s most revered fashion capitals.
Highlighted was electrifying homegrown design talent featured in extravagant runway shows with a plethora of A-list stars in the audience.
Designs ranged from classic red carpet-ready gowns to edgy “get-ups.” The show ended last week and set the stage for the upcoming Shanghai Fashion Week that kicks off Wednesday and is expected to be a dazzling event.
China Daily fashion writer and a regular at Beijing Fashion Week, Darren Gan, told Relaxnews, “The biggest change is China’s fashion designers are getting good at holding fabulous shows. Compared to 15 years ago, China fashion designers are more aware of the importance of the runway décor, details and models. [Menswear designer] Cabbeen spends a large amount of money on runway décor. Some of the projects and high-tech equipment on the runway can catch up with those from A-list fashion labels in the world.”
Shanghai, often called the “Paris of the East,” will welcome an assortment of the city’s most promising and rising design talents. Featured will be an array of creations from Helen Lee, who has been recognized with several international awards. Lee’s designs blend traditional Chinese cultural elements with western cutting and style.
While China’s fashion elite are perusing the city on Thursday, Gucci will present its first Chinese show on The Shanghai Bund, where it will showcase its men and women’s fall and winter 2012 collections.
Louis Vuitton and Chanel are also among the first high-end Western labels to come to China.
