Los Angeles, CA, United States (AHN) – Jessica Alba has another hat to wear. The actress, wife and mother has become a businesswoman.
Alba has launched a venture that provides parents easy access to eco-friendly natural products for babies and homes.
The 30-year-old actress and mother of two said that while preparing for motherhood four years ago, her biggest challenge was trying to find environmentally friendly and natural products for her baby and her home. She found many were laden with toxic chemicals that have been linked to allergies and asthma.
Alba founded online, eco-friendly, and non-toxic The Honest Company with Christopher Gavigan, the former CEO of the non-profit group Healthy Child World, after discovering that toxic chemicals were often masked as fragrances on product labels and that not all eco-friendly and natural products worked efficiently.
Alba took her fight against toxic products to Washington, D.C., in May 2011, while pregnant with her second child on behalf of the Safer Chemicals, Healthy Families coalition that supported the Safe Chemical Act.
The actress has no plans to stop acting. Alba voices a role in the animated film set for release next year, “Escape from Planet Earth.”
