London, England, United Kingdom (AHN) – Hats off to Kate Middleton!
The Duchess of Cambridge has been crowned Headwear Association’s “Hat Person of the Year.”
Since her engagement to Prince William in November 2010, Kate has raised the profile of big designers such as Philip Tracey and Sylvia Fletcher of Lock & Co., as well as little-known designers such as Rose Cory and Vivien Sheriff.
The duchess has been seen and photographed donning hats of various shapes and sizes at a variety of venues ranging from social parties, to political events, to church services and weddings.
And thanks to her public display of wearing hats, milliners all around the world are enjoying the recent boon.
Kate received 90 percent of the votes to win the award. Names on the shortlist of other potential winners included Justin Timberlake, Bruno Mars and Charlie Sheen.
A post on The Headwear Association’s blog, announcing the news Tuesday, described Kate’s style as “impeccable.”
This is the third annual Hat Person of the Year Award. Johnny Depp and Brad Pitt were past winners.
