Kelowna, British Columbia, Canada (AHN) – It’s the size of a watermelon. It weighs more than 25 pounds. It’s been named “God’s Gift.” And for a million dollars or so it could be yours.
The “Teodora,” or God’s Gift, is the world’s largest cut emerald at 57,000 carats and it is will be auctioned off this month in Canada.
The 25.35 pound emerald, appraised Monday at $1.15 million, will go up for sale Jan. 28 at Western Star Auctions in Kelowna, British Columbia.
The precious jewel was found in Brazil and is owned by a gem dealer in Calgary.
The selling price is expected to be much higher than the appraised value. It all depends who wants to own the largest emerald in the world, and has the green to do so.
