Los Angeles, CA, United States (AHN) – It’s a dog eat dog eat world. Just ask Kim Kardashian.
The TV reality personality, star of Skecher’s 2011 Super Bowl ad for its shape-up sneakers, has been replaced in this year’s spot by a French bulldog.
While fans of Kim might be outraged, it is animal rights activists who are barking about the new ad.
On Thursday, a greyhound protection group is set to issue a petition to have Skechers remove its new Super Bowl spot before it hits airways because it was shot at a race track in Arizona that the group claims mistreats greyhounds.
The group, Grey2K USA, is organizing boycotts at some of Skecher’s 300 U.S. stores, and a rally is planned for Saturday outside a Skecher’s in Tucson.
Skechers has no plans to pull the ad before it is set to debut on Feb. 5 because, according to the company’s marketing chief, the protestors haven’t even seen the ad, and they have no idea what they are protesting.
No howling as yet from Kardashian about the situation.
