Minneapolis, MN, United States (AHN) – Fashion Week might want to take notes from the second largest discount retailer Target.
After Target released its Missoni line for Target Tuesday, its website crashed several times throughout the day. Hundreds of fashionistas created long lines at many Target stores for a sale of limited offerings of its Missoni for Target collection that includes bikes, luggage, clothes and housewares.
The 400-piece line, made by Italian luxury knitwear designer Missoni exclusively for Target, features its trademark zigzag patterns that sell between $2.00 for stationary to $599.99 for patio furniture. The prices for items made just for Target sell for a fraction of the designer’s originals that range between $595 to $1,500.
Target’s website crashed again early Wednesday, but was back up again by 8:30 a.m. Target apologized to its customers for the disruption.
Target had planned to sell the line into October at all 1,700 stores around the country. But the Missoni line is anticipated to sell out before that online and at all of the cheap chic retailer’s stores.
