Wow. That’s the word from the uninitiated in the art of writing a collection review. I loathe to disagree with “wow” and in this case I happily won’t have to go that route. The Mackage Spring 2012 collection is neither sugary sweet nor aggressively edgy. It walks a sublime line between the two worlds simply by existing as feminine with a touch of bold in the form of strong defined sculptured lines. The installation presentation was against a dreary weather backdrop that actually helped drive the point home that the collection is squarely focused on the highlighting female form. The liner notes state that there is an ethereal yet masculine quality to the collection. To be perfectly honest, I found the contrary true from looking at the fabric and intricacy of design: satin, linen and leather, yes leather in Spring. Stand out items in the collection include a print dress with leather halter, a trench that was easy on the eyes and easier to wear and a black accordion style dress. Look to add one of these items from Mackage to your collection for Spring.
