London, England, United Kingdom (AHN) – For those men who want to banish the beer belly without giving up the beer or spending hours at the gym, take heart. Manx, a new line of figure hugging boxing shorts, has arrived.
Supermarket chain Asda spent a year perfecting Manx, named after the female slimming underwear brand Spanx. The stretchy fabric claims to lift and firm flabby backsides, suck in beer bellies and smooth away those oh so lovable “love handles.” The high-waisted trunks promise to firm and flatten while being invisible under clothes.
Control underwear was made famous in the hit film Bridget Jones’s Diary when Renee Zellwegger struggled in and out of them. Today, they are worn daily by women worldwide. Asda said it recognized that many men are also self-conscious about their midsection and their mates think they carry a little bit too much weight around the middle.
Recent polls show most men don’t like the underwear and probably won’t rush out to buy them. But that’s okay with some women. It’s just more of their special guy to love.
