Each piece can be dressed up or down and styled to suit the wearer’s mood, with one of the dresses convertible to four different styles.
Africa Fashion Week is a luxury multi-day event that will include runway shows, vendor exhibition and industry networking events with the sole purpose of raising awareness of African Fashion/Entertainment professionals all over the world. More specifically, buyers and industry influencers will be previewed to African designers while over 2,000+ audience members will also witness the excitement and be a part of the cause.
Funlayo Déri has been established by Funmilayo Csilla Déri, a talented London/Budapest based fashion designer. Born in Nigeria, she developed a passion for fashion from a very early age, designing and making garments with her mother.
Earning a degree in International Business and working as a Manager at a private bank in Switzerland, Funmilayo decided in 2009 to make a career of her love for fashion. She studied at the renowned Istituto Marangoni in London, prior to launching her eponymous fashion label Funlayo Déri in March 2011.
Funmilayo’s design aesthetic is influenced by her mixed cultural experiences and exposure and is a manifestation of her eclectic background. She believes that clothes should be glamorous and elegant but not overly serious, so her designs exude glamour and elegance, but are yet modern and stylish in an unconventional, striking way. She also believes that clothes should always be created with exquisite fabrics, fine craftsmanship and great attention to detail.
