Los Angeles, CA, United States (AHN Entertainment) – Britney Spears has been slappedwith a lawsuit for allegedly stinking up her deal with a company that helped her secure a perfume contract with Elizabeth Arden.
Brand Sense Partners, LLC claims that the pop singer and her conservator dad defrauded them by entering into a direct secret deal with the cosmetics giant.
The lawsuit states that Britney and dad Jamie went behind Brand Sense’s back by entering into a secret deal with Elizabeth Arden to deceive them of profits from her fragrance deal.
Britney apparently had a contract with Brand Sense in 2003 to look for possible licensing opportunities, which had the company bringing Elizabeth Arden to the contract the next year.
The deal was modified in 2005, stating that the company would get 35 percent commission from “any and all products” the singer worked on with cosmetics company, which includes her Radiance scent.
But Britney, the suit alleges, secretly contacted Elizabeth Arden last year to tell them to send all fragrance royalties straight to her. When “caught red-handed,” Jamie acknowledged that they had a deal, but he complained that the “commission was too high and said that Britney did not want to pay it.”
Brand Sense says they have suffered at least $10 million, and wants its 35-percent cut as long as the cosmetics company is making fragrances with the star.
