Los Angeles, CA, United States (AHN Entertainment) – Elizabeth Taylor was famous for a lot of things: her talent and accomplishments, beauty, her eyes, her relationships, and her jewelry collection. After the passing of the Hollywood legend, just what is going to happen to her estimated $150 million jewels?
Taylor’s massive collection of diamonds and rare vintage jewelry will reportedly be auctioned at Christie’s, according to People magazine. Sources said that the collection is expected to go under the hammer sometime in the future.
The jewels include the 69-carat Taylor-Burton diamond that was purchased for more than $1 million and the 33-carat Krupp diamond given by fifth husband Richard Burton, which was said to be her most treasured piece.
Luxury Jewels of Beverly Hills President/CEO Peter Sedghi, who worked with her on her House of Taylor jewelry line, told the magazine about her love of baubles, “She had the most amazing eye. To be honest, she knew more than I did [about jewelry]. When you would show her stones, she would tell you the origin, if it’s good quality, bad quality, where it came from.”
Taylor’s preferred jewel? Diamonds, of course.
Sedghi continued, “She had a collection like I’ve never seen before, and she knew exactly what every one was – what the diamonds were, the quality. But it was more for her; it was… the history behind it. A lot of them had sentimental value.”
