New York City, NY, United States (AHN Entertainment) – Katie Holmes says she spends a lot of the time traveling but has learned how to keep daughter Suri feeling like she’s at home no matter where they are.
In the current issue of Women’s Wear Daily, the 32-year-old actress, who is married to Tom Cruise, said she knows a thing or two about keeping her four-year-old daughter feel at home.
“Bring lots of crayons, glue good paper and you can turn any room into a very warm, familial place.”
Holmes also revealed that one of her favorite hobbies is doing arts and crafts projects with Suri.
“My husband got me a sewing machine for my birthday,” she said. “My mom grew up making curtains and pillows and everything, and it made our home very warm, so I like to do things like that with my daughter.”
But it doesn’t look like she hasn’t much time for sewing these days.
The former “Dawson Creek” star is busy kicking off a series of trunk shows for her Holmes & Yang clothing line, which she launched in 2009 with her stylist, Jeanne Yang.
The shows, which features clothing for working mothers, are for their spring and fall lines at Barneys, which has carried their collection for two seasons.
Recently, Holmes’ business partner Yang said coming up with the right clothes for busy mothers was “kind of our challenge.”
“Both of us are working moms, so we’re pretty busy, and, having a line, being moms and then having our careers is quite a lot. It’s so rare, unfortunately, that I actually know people who are into crafting and doing stuff like that,” Yang said.
