New York, NY, United States (AHN) – If your daughter asks for a Barbie doll on your next shopping trip, beware before you say yes because it might burn your pocket completely. A custom-made Barbie, with a one-carat pink diamond necklace, is available at an estimated price of $300,000 to $500,000 at an auction at the famous Christie’s in New York.
The doll will be offered on auction on Oct. 20, and the money generated by its sale will be donated to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. This being Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the auction has been arranged by jeweler Stefano Canturi, who has designed for the doll a necklace with an emerald-cut, fancy vivid diamond, set in a geometric pattern.
Barbie is wearing a black strapless dress with stilettos.
Before this, the costliest Barbie doll was auctioned at Christie’s London where it fetched $17,091 in 2006.
