Is it Victorian inspired or a collection of quasi babydolls for playthings? That’s the question that may be asked when walking away from Julien MacDonald’s Spring 2011 collection. Having to answer that question is a great problem to have particularly because nearly all of it is done extremely well. MacDonald plays with lace, silk and other fabrics to create a collection consisting of flowing dresses with layers and eveingwear that can be worn at just about any time of the day. MacDonald pleases the senses with a range that includes blue and black sheer fabric and a beige spaghetti strap short dress with intricately detailed ruffles at the hem (which falls an inch above the knee). Overall MacDonald impresses again with a strong collection and has us clamoring for his items this Spring.
