(New York, NY, September 14, 2010) – Custo Barcelona launched the new “Fiction and Reality” Spring-Summer 2011 Collection at the Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts during the Mercedes-Benz New York Fashion Week to a crowd of over 900 fashion industry professionals, celebrities and VIP’s with a colourful proposal of both wearable and experimental pieces sharing the catwalk.
The fictional and the functional, conflicting yet complementing concepts, blend perfectly on the Custo Barcelona catwalk. Representing uniquely artistic pieces in which aesthetics prevail above all else, inspired by the movement of the geometric pieces in Calder’s delicate mobiles. Functionality is reflected in everyday wear that creates a perfect harmony when combined with the more experimental garments.
New textures and splendid volumes that lend rounded items architectural components, revealed in delicate mini-dresses decorated with tiny multicoloured pendulums that light up the garments and add shine. Total looks also prevail, made up of graphic prints and all-in-one short suits.
Geometry as a graphic element: the pieces are created from unlikely mixes of different simple shapes woven with empty spaces to create a surprising effect of coloured vector prints all combined.
Custo Barcelona, a genius in the use of colour, surprised in this collection with a new, gentler and more subtle colour palette full of touches of makeup, nude, aquamarine, indigo, turquoise, azalea, optical white, beige, camel, caramel and honey, mixed masterfully with fluoride, fuchsia, green and yellow.
A fascinating proposal from the designer, full of energy and new approaches dazzled a full house in New York City including television personality Kimora Lee Simmons, singer and actress Deborah Cox, socialite Tinsley Mortimer, America’s Next Top Model Judge Miss “J” Alexander, Miss Universe Jimena Navarrete and Miss Teen USA Kamie Crawford among others.
