Chicago, IL, United States (AHN) – With New York Fashion Week going on right now and several other cities’ Fashion Weeks are up-and-coming – Miami, Berlin and Jakarta – one other city is attempting to have its very own Fashion Week by 2011.
Chicago wants to join the Fashion Week fun, and according to ChicagoFashionWeek.com, Chicago will be getting its own Fashion Week next year. There are email addresses on the website’s home page for interested designers, makeup artists, models, sponsors and interns.
However, no one can be reached for an official comment yet, and the City of Chicago’s Office of Tourism doesn’t even know about this upcoming Fashion Week yet.
“As far as the City goes, we do not know anything about a Fashion Week coming to Chicago or are involved in/with the event,” a rep for the City of Chicago said.
Regardless of whether or not an official Fashion Week will be coming to Chicago next year, the city’s Fashion Focus, its own mini fashion frenzy featuring local and student designers, will kick off next month. Now in its sixth year, Fashion Focus is a collaboration between the Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs, Macy’s, the Chicago Fashion Incubator, Mario Tricoci, StyleChicago.com and the city’s four fashion design schools: Columbia College Chicago, the Illinois Institute of Art – Chicago, the International Academy of Design and Technology and the School of the Art Institute Chicago.
Fashion Focus will feature runway shows in Millennium Park and various other venues from October 18 through October 24.
