French music of the 60s, glass of Mimosa in hand. The atmosphere in the courtyard of the Hudson Hotel was sophisticated and peaceful. The attention to detail to made it obvious that Yuna Yang understood how staging the surroundings of the show added a touch more to the collection.
For her latest collection, Yuna Yang wanted to learn from the contradiction between the model wife of 50 years and the audacity of the modern woman of the 70s. Betty Draper, a character from the popular series Mad Men is the perfect example of the inspiration that aided in the development of Yuna Yang’s Spring / Summer 2011 collections. Throughout the show, entitled “My Black Wedding Dress” there were evening gowns embellished with silk, lace, crepe and a touch of sequins. The petite silk day dresses through the evening gown made of lace that reached the floor were well received. The cut and the fit for her collection were very feminine. A particular highlight was an evening dress in electric blue silk open back, bringing a sexiness and femininity that was demonstrated throughout collection.
Yuna Yang wanted to celebrate women with this latest collection and got their hands down.
