Los Angeles, CA, United States (AHN) – MAC Cosmetics is getting a makeover from Disney and, surprisingly, bringing out its darker side. Because instead of using any of Disney’s cuddly cute characters, the villains are the ones who get to have all the fun.
For MAC and Disney’s Venomous Villains collection, they’re rolling out four separate mini-collections inspired by different classic Disney villains. The four characters featured in the collection include Cruella De Vil of “101 Dalmatians,” the Evil Queen from “Snow White,” Maleficient from “Sleeping Beauty” and Dr. Facilier from last year’s “The Princess and the Frog.”
Cruella accentuates the lips with her cherry red lipstick called, what else, Heartless. Her eyeshadow, De-Vil, comes in a rich copper and even a dark-as-night intense black named Carbon.
The Evil Queen from “Snow White” offers up items like Bite of an Apple blush in a soft coral pink, and Sinister lipstick, a brown plum. Maleficent goes more the fantasy route with darker shades and purples, including Mean & Green Purple nail licquer.
Disney’s newest villain, Dr. Facilier of “The Princess and the Frog,” introduces the Cajun “Magically Cool Liquid Powder,” as well as French Quarter-inspired Greasepaint Stick in black green and true carbon black.
The colors for the 40 item collection, which feature uniquely designed and extremely collectible packaging, were created from Pantone reproductions of original Disney drawings. “Disney gave us the colors used when these characters were drawn throughout their history,” said Jennifer Balbier, VP of MAC’s product development.
So how much does it cost to look like the fairest of them all? Not as much as you’d think. The lowest priced products include a $12 “I’m So Vain” compact mirror and $13 nail licquer. The beauty powders are the most expensive, running $25.
The Venomous Villians collection arrives at MAC stores on September 30th.
