Los Angeles, CA, United States (AHN) – While women everywhere can’t wait to get a taste of “Eat Pray Love,” the upcoming Ryan Murphy-directed dramedy starring Julia Roberts, they’ll also be able to wear it. Along with exclusive collections heading to L.A. boutiques and even HSN, other “Eat Pray Love” inspired items are heading to stores like Neiman Marcus and Bloomingdales.
In “Eat, Pray, Love,” Julia Roberts dons some worldly fashions to portray a woman who travels across India and Indonesia. Sue Wong is among the fashion designers set to create “Eat Pray Love”-inspired collections, including her first-ever separates collection featuring pieces with an exotic flair and intricate embellishments.
“When I read Eat Pray Love, I immediately identified with the story, as many aspects of Elizabeth Gilbert’s journey were synchronous with my own personal odyssey,” said designer Sue Wong.
“Because of the immediate connection I felt to the story, as well as its emphasis on the culture, philosophy, and, in particular, alluring mystique of the East, I was able to create a collection that was striking, exotic, and timeless, and organic to the journey in the book and forthcoming film,” Wong continued.
The “Eat Pray Love by Sue Wong” collection hits stores such as Neiman Marcus, Saks Fifth Avenue, Nordstorm, Bloomingdales, and Dillard’s beginning in August.
Meanwhile, jewelers Dogeared are creating a line of jewelry inspired by the upcoming movie, including beaded necklaces in earth tones and bohemian bracelets. Their “Eat Pray Love” collection will be sold by ABC Home and Fred Segal in Los Angeles.
“This is a totally natural fit for Dogeared,” said brand founder Marcia Maizel-Clarke to WWD. ” “We relate to the theme of a woman’s journey for self-fulfillment and happiness.”
On August 6th, 7th, and 8th, HSN will dedicate 72 hours of programming to featuring items themed around “Eat Pray Love” and its locales, including days dedicated to Italy, India, and Bali.
Among the brands participating in the event are Lancome, Rebecca Moses, Naeem Khan, Sony Electronics, RK by Ranjana Khan, and “Top Chef” star Padma Lakshmi.
“Eat Pray Love,” based on the best-selling novel by Elizabeth Gilbert, hits theaters on August 13th.
