Singapore, Singapore (AHN) – Singapore may be the next catwalk destination for fashion. The Asian nation is launching its first ever fashion week from April 28 to May 2.
The inaugural fashion week, under the banner of Asian Fashion Exchange (AFX), will feature more than 50 established and emerging designers from neighboring countries Thailand, Indonesia, India, and Japan.
International retail buyers will also be in attendance, along with fashionistas around the world.
Group Director for Americas, IE Singapore, Mr. Satvinder Singh, said, “There is a wealth of design talent in Singapore, and through this event, we hope to better reveal that talent to the rest of the fashion world.”
“Plus, since Singapore is truly positioned as a gateway to the rest of Asia, this new fashion week will provide a hub to showcase the best designers and labels from across the region.”
The designers set to debut their collections include Abyzz, Al & Alicia, alldressedup, AWOL by Alfie Leong, Ben Wu, Eugene, Lin, Laichain, Raoul, Yen, and Wyidd.
AFX will be holding a two-day fashion trade show called Blueprint Emporium on the event’s third day. It will also feature Star Creation, a fashion design competition spearheaded by Textile & Fashion Federation (TaFf).
Three winners will each receive SGD 10,000 (around $7,150) in prize money and a one-year internship with fashion retailer FJ Benjamin.
The inaugural Singapore fashion week holds from April 28 to May 2.
