New York, NY, United States (AHN) – High-end jeans label Rock & Republic has filed for bankruptcy. The brand, which at one time carried Victoria Beckham’s jeans line, says it will keep operating under the Chapter 11 protection.
The American fashion company, best known for expensive denim, apparel and accessories, says that the filing would “ease the pressure on its balance sheet.”
Geoffrey D. Lurie, the company’s newly named Chief Restructuring Officer, was quoted by the Los Angeles Times as saying, “The Chapter 11 filing is a strategic action that will alleviate balance sheet burdens and enable us to adopt the financial and operational initiatives needed to support the brand’s growth needs.”
“We are confident that this is the right move for Rock & Republic.”
He added that the brand is currently exploring financial relationships that can give them the resources to support their focus on emphasizing its core apparel and footwear business.
Rock & Republic was founded by Michael Ball in 2002. It became known for carrying Beckham’s VB Rocks line of jeans.
