New York, NY, United States (AHN) – Joaquin Phoenix is stepping up to voice his protests against reptile slaughter. The actor and musician has filmed a startling video with PETA to protest the killings, with hopes that some of the major designers will change their policies.
Phoenix is calling out major fashion houses such as Christian Louboutin and Jimmy Choo, hoping to persuade them to choose compassion over cruelty by eliminating exotic skins from their lines. In the video, Phoenix gives viewers an extremely graphic, behind-the-scenes look at the exotic skins trade and the pain and cruelty that the reptiles are forced to endure to poach the skins.
Companies such as Nike, H&M and Overstock.com have pledged not to sell exotic skins and opting instead to use other fashionable and cruelty-free alternatives.
Fans can also sign a petition that is a pledge to shed exotic skins from their wardrobes. To view the video, head to www.Peta.org, but beware as it is extremely graphic.
