Los Angeles, CA, United States (AHN) – Whitney Port has been hit with a lawsuit by a designer that claims she is the real creator of the reality show star’s clothing line. Adrienne Baravetto alleges that she did most of the work on “Whitney Eve” but she was not paid for her effort.
The suit, filed Friday in Los Angeles County Superior Court and obtained by TMZ, states that Whitney Eve, which is advertised as “The City” star’s clothing range, is mostly Baravetto’s work. She apparently met with Port and her father in 2007 to create a clothing line for women they called Eve & A.
And although she never signed an official contract, the designer said she was promised an $80,000 annual salary plus 25 percent of the company in an oral agreement.
But after the line was purchased by several high-end retailers, Port changed the line’s name to Whitney Eve and left her out of the deal.
She wants her promised salary and share plus punitive damages.
Port’s rep told TMZ that the suit is “baseless and without merit.”
