London, United Kingdom (CNS) – High end department store chain Selfridges is launching a new range of Barbie dolls in their Wonder Room concept store. The “So In Style” dolls will be featuring the iconic dolls in mixed race ranges and really chic styles and accessories.
Created by Barbie designer Stacey McBride-Irby, the So In Style dolls will be available from March 15 at the Wonder Room Concept Store.
The designer told U.K. Vogue, “As a Barbie doll designer for more than 10 years, I want African-American girls to know that dolls can represent their career aspirations, hobbies and ethnic backgrounds.”
“Barbie inspired me to realize my dream of becoming a designer, and I want my dolls to inspire girls to play, create and live out their dreams.”
Selfridges director of accessories Sebastian Manes said the dolls fit “perfectly with our store product mix, where interesting and unusual items at all price points sit beside the world’s most luxurious brands.”
The So In Style Barbie dolls cost 25 pounds each or around $38.
