New York Fashion Week Fall 2010: Andy & Debb

In the past I’ve been impressed with Andy & Debb. While the same quality of construction and attention to detail seem to be in place – these are still beautifully-made clothes – their designs seem somewhat less inspired, or less inspiring. Perhaps it was the mostly black and navy color palette, but I’m usually down for that. Perhaps the duo is trying to create a collection that is more buyer-friendly, with classic pieces for a woman’s basic wardrobe. There is certainly a place for that. But the level of craftsmanship, if that’s the case, just wasn’t enough to wow.

Standout pieces included a selection of ivory wool/silk blend Ginko Biloba Leaf printed pieces with tucked sleeves and double-petal skirts, chic leather pants and gloves, and some nice fur pieces for what amounts to a standout collection for the season.
