London, United Kingdom (CNS) – The news of the death of Alexander McQueen has shaken the fashion world and since then tributes have been pouring in from the fashion and celebrity world alike. The British designer died on Thursday at his home in London at the age of 40.
Tributes for the late and great designer have been given since the news of his death. Model Kate Moss, who was a bridesmaid at McQueen’s wedding, was said to be “shocked and devastated at the tragic loss of her dear friend Lee McQueen. Her thoughts are with his family at this sad time. We would also ask that Kate’s privacy is respected.”
Alexandra Shulman, editor of British Vogue called McQueen a “modern-day genius” whilst Dita Von Teese simple said “Rest in peace, Mr. McQueen.”
It had been apparent that McQueen was finding it difficult to deal with the death of his mother, as today would have been her funeral. Several messages were left on McQueen’s Twitter expressing his sadness, but he posted “life must go on” only a few days ago.
McQueen’s death has happened just a week before the launch of London Fashion Week and on the day his McQ by Alexander McQueen show that was meant to be taking place in New York. The rightly dubbed ‘bad boy of British fashion’ has had his designs worn by such stars as Sandra Bullock, Cameron Diaz, Lady GaGa and Rihanna.
