New York, NY, United States (CNS) – Beyonce Knowles’ fashion clothing line is being sued by its Hong Kong-based manufacturer. Vier International Ltd. says it lost $500,000 because the House of Dereon, the fashion line she created with her mother Tina, has breached their contract.
According to the complaint filed in Manhattan and obtained by RadarOnline.com, Vier claims it lost $500,000 because clothing company Donna Loren LLC and shipping firm HJM International were “conspirators who induced the shipment of goods to the United States with the intent to convert them or pay less than the agreed upon contract price.”
The Grammy winner’s fashion line and her Beyond Productions company are involved because they allegedly aided the scheme. They apparently purchased orders and requested manufacturing specifications so that the garments would not need altering before they go to market.
Vier International cited the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act (RICO), which was first used in prosecution of organized crimes such as the Mafia, but has expanded to other areas as well. If they are found guilty, they may face jail time.
Beyonce and Tina launched the House of Dereon in 2006.
