New York, NY, United States (CNS) – The retailer of high-end clothing and home furnishings, Anthropologie, debuted a new recycled chandelier on Wednesday. The new design has been in the works from the company’s design team over the last year.
The chandeliers are made from repurposed plastic bottles that are cut by hand into floral shapes and bunched together, giving the light a giant-lit-from-within bouquet.
A lead designer from the company owned by Urban Outfitters, stated, “My favorite part of my job is using simple recyclable materials to create things that are beautiful and extraordinary.”
This isn’t the first chandelier from the company that uses recycled materials. The Magpie Chandelier, which retails for $4,800, uses recycled plastic, galvanized wire and sting. President Obama bought the chandelier for Sasha and Malia’s bedroom in the White House.
Currently the new fixtures can be found in fitting rooms in four stores across the country. Here’s to Anthropologie for making good use out of everyone else’s pesky leftover bottles.
