Tyra Banks Announces Plus-Sized Teen Model Search
Los Angeles, CA, United States (CNS) – Tyra Banks has announced yet another modeling search. But what makes her newest project different is that she is not looking for size 0 girls to participate, but for plus-sized teens to strut their stuff on the catwalk.
Titled “Tyra’s Fiercely Real Teen Model Search,” the show will feature teens aged 13 to 19, standing between 5′9″ and 6′1″ and sporting size 12 and up, vying for a modeling contract.
People quoted the 36-year-old former model as saying, “Plus-sized tends to have a negative connotation and I want young girls to realize that what’s considered plus-sized is the average American woman.”
“That woman is healthy, fit and beautiful. Adolescence is such an impressionable time in a young woman’s life, and I hope this contest helps teen girls discover their own beauty from the inside out.”
The winner will receive a year of modeling contract with a major agency, a fashion spread on Tyra’s MagaLine, a cover photo with Tyra on MagaLine, and a spread in a major fashion magazine.
