Queen Latifah And Dania Ramirez Launch New CoverGirl Campaign For Clean Water

Shannon Moore – Celebrity News Service Reporter

New York, NY, United States (CNS) – Actresses Queen Latifah and Dania Ramirez are stepping up to help people across the world gain access to clean water. The two have launched CoverGirl’s Clean Makeup for Clean Water Campaign, with the cosmetic company pledging to donate $500,000 to the Children’s Safe Drinking Water charity.

Ramirez, 30, has already traveled to her home in the Dominican Republic to join in the campaign. During the trip, she delivered a year’s supply of drinking water to villages in need.

“This program is especially important to me as I know firsthand that unsafe drinking water is a matter of life or death. When I was growing up in the Dominican Republic, we had to boil our water before drinking it so we didn’t get sick or worse,” Ramirez told People. “It means so much to me to give back such a simple gift as clean water!”

Queen Latifah is focusing her goals on Africa, also encouraging fans to get involved and help out. She explained to People saying, “Log on to covergirl.com and submit a video entry telling us how you give back to make the world a better place and why this makes you beautiful, inside and out.”

“The winner of the contest will get to be part of the next CoverGirl Clean Makeup for Clean Water mission trip to Africa later this year where we will help deliver clean water to people who desperately need it.”
