New York, NY (CNS) – Acclaimed men’s fashion designer Tom Ford is venturing into ladies’ wear. The 2008 CFDA Menswear Designer of the Year recipient has confirmed rumors that he and business partner Domenico de Sole are likely to launch the line next fall.
He told WWD that his women’s range will come out “very soon.” He and de Sole are currently on the lookout for financing for the line. If they won’t be able to find one, the collection may have to wait for a while.
Ford previously designed women’s wear for Gucci when he was still the creative director for the Italian fashion house.
He is currently promoting his first movie, “A Single Man,” in Tokyo. The film, based on the Christopher Isherwood novel of the same name, premiered at the 66th Venice International Film Festival last month.
It centers on a gay English professor attempting to return to a normal life after the death of his long term partner. Colin Firth stars in the main role.
Ford directed, co-produced, and co-wrote the film with David Scearce.
