New York, NY (CNS) – Fashion label Ralph Lauren is facing the heat again after one of their models appears to be digitally altered on a photo to look impossibly skinny.
Model Valentina Zelyaeva is featured on the clothing company’s Australian website looking extremely skinny in one picture and healthier in the same image in what appears to be an untouched and unairbrushed version, prompting instant comparison.
The altered image shows Zelyaeva’s hips and waist significantly smaller than in the other picture. Both appear on the same website.
Online comments have not been kind to the altered photo. Some critics brand the photo as ugly and unnatural.
This is the second time in a week that the label is accused of dramatically altering their models’ photos to look skinny.
Last week, an airbrushed photo of catwalk beauty Filippa Hamilton, who alleges that Ralph Lauren fired her for being too fat, also caused controversy.
The Japanese ad image shows Hamilton with an impossibly skinny body and a head bigger than her waist.
A spokesman for the brand apologized for the “very distorted” picture.
