New York, NY (CNS) – A Ralph Lauren model has gotten fired from the fashion company for apparently being too fat. Filippa Hamilton, a size 4 model who stands 5’10” and weighs 120 lbs, claims the American clothing company fired her because she couldn’t fit into sample clothes.
Appearing in the “Today” show, she alleges that Ralph Lauren fired her because she is considered overweight, an accusation the other camp flatly denies.
The 23-year-old Swedish-French catwalk beauty said a letter was sent to her agent in April, which stated they are terminating her services because she couldn’t fit into the sample clothes she needed to wear.”
But according to a Ralph Lauren spokesperson, Hamilton was fired because of “her inability to meet the obligations under her contract with us.”
Hamilton insisted she did everything that she could, saying “I was very loyal to them. I was on time every time.”
She added that she had no intention of going public with her complaint until a Photoshopped image of her appeared in Japan. The image, shot for the company, showed an extremely thin Hamilton whose head was bigger than her hips.
Ralph Lauren owned up to the mistake, saying they are responsible for the “poor imaging and retouching that resulted in a very distorted image of a woman’s body.”
