Tokyo, Japan (CNS) – U.K. fashion brand French Connection is closing its Japan stores. FCUK bosses will be closing down all 21 of its Japanese stores over the next six to nine months.
The move comes after founder Stephen Marks previously identified the Asian nation as a particularly troubled section of their business.
French Connection Japan was predicted to generate a loss of $4 million in the year to January 31, 2010.
Marks said they will maintain the brand’s presence in the Japanese market through e-commerce.
Last month, FCUK also said it would close its Northern European retail operations following a pre-tax loss of around $20 million for the first six months of 2009.
