Paris, France (CNS) – Lindsay Lohan can’t seem to take her “train wreck” label off. The 23-year-old actress’ first fashion collection as Emanuel Ungaro’s artistic advisor bombed at the runway during Paris Fashion Week on Sunday.
Various fashion blogs and reviews have slammed the young actress’ foray into designing, with Women’s Wear Daily calling the runway looks “an embarrassment.”
A review posted on its website reads: “As for the clothes, they looked cheesy and dated, as has often been the case chez Ungaro during the post-Emanuel revolving door of designers.”
“ Being a young, pretty, controversial woman who looks good in clothes and photo ops just isn’t enough.”
The L.A. Times also delivered a scathing review for Lohan, saying her collection was a “deadly collision of celebrity culture and fashion culture on Sunday.”
“After all the hullabaloo over her appointment a month ago, with some fashion insiders suggesting it was an insult to anyone who had ever really worked in design, it had to have been the walk of shame to end all.”
It says that “nothing in the collection evidenced any real skill or discernible design work.”
The Style adds: “This quickly devolved into a bad joke of fashion show, one with questionable color combinations, ‘bad eighties’ draped silk jackets and drop-crotch pants, old-fashioned and ill-judged fur stoles, and yes, tasteless sequin pasties. To top it off, the fabrics and the construction lacked the finesse you expect from a famous Avenue Montaigne brand.”
But now all reviews were scornful. Some of them noted a few pieces worth their while, such as the strapless fuschia plisse mini dress.
They also tried to be “fair” to the collection, saying designer Estrella Archs only had a month to design the collection.
Last month, Lohan was named Ungaro’s artistic director with Archs as designer.
