As a designer, Rebecca Taylor can be considered as the quintessential expert on all things girlish, whimsical and floral. There is a genius in understanding the feminine shape that is rarely found in the current crop of young uber designers. Most will comprehend what is artistically beautiful. Many though, will miss what it means to be wear something that enhances overall feminine beauty. Rebecca Taylor gets this better than most and we’ve championed her collection in the past because of her attention to detail and devotion to feminine beauty.
Her concentration on the finer points of design is even more apparent when wearing the famous Rebecca Taylor dress (never mind simply admiring it from a distance). Legions of fans wait in anticipation to see what the designer has cooking up for her new collection. Those same legions include the new generation of power players in fashion, politics and film. Sarah Michelle Gellar, Chelsea Clinton, and Sarah Paulson all proudly profess to be wearers of Taylor’s design genius. If the sketches are any indication, they will want to wear what she has in store for the new season as it looks like she is going to carry on the feminine design ethic for Spring 2010.
Taylor went in a slightly different direction for her previous Spring collection. She moved away from the heavy floral influences and went with clean lines, solid colors and free flowing dresses (many above the knee). This season we were able to get 1 quick peek at her new collection in the form of a sketch and she has us salivating to find out more. Find out we shall, her show takes place during NYC Fashion week on September 13. Watch this space for more on Rebecca Taylor.
